Commissions

I am currently available for a small number of commissions each month.
I aim to capture the personality of your chosen animal with expressive, loose mark making and often minimal strokes, whilst spending time on the details that I believe will bring the portrait to life.
All portraits are created on quality 300gsm paper (unless otherwise stated) with lightfast materials which will give your portrait longevity. I currently use mixed media to create my work, including watercolour, pencils and pastels.

Although I will aim to get your portrait completed within four weeks from receipt of your deposit and reference photos, please contact me for an estimated artwork completion date. However, if you are on a time limit please tell me and I will endeavour to complete earlier for you.

“Hannah did a wonderful portrait of our Chula, it is our favourite piece of art. Not only is the line and drawing delightful but she captured Chula’s personality to a level that touched our hearts when we saw it.”

Miguel & Inma, Valencia

“Hannah created a beautiful piece for a birthday gift for my mom. Not only was communication clear and thorough but she took a genuine interest in creating the best piece possible. The artwork really captured my mom’s dogs and she absolutely loved her gift.”

Luke Pitcher, Bristol

“I contacted Hannah to paint a portrait as a gift for my dad after his beloved dog Alfie passed away. I had seen Hannah’s work online and knew that she could create something special for us. When I received pictures of the portrait a short time later, I was blown away by the resemblance and how completely unique the painting was.

It was packaged and posted so carefully with a lovely note that made the whole experience so personal.

Needless to say my Dad was over the moon with his gift, ‘it’s his eyes’ he kept saying through happy tears.

I can’t thank Hannah enough for taking so much care and being so understanding during the process.”

Frankie Tong, Manchester

Disclaimers:

  • I reserve the right to change these prices at any time. However once you have secured your commission with your deposit, you will not be affected by any price increase.

  • Please be aware that I work gesturally and often messily, embracing the behaviour of medium I am working with, often painting with unconventional tools. Although I take extra care with commissions, there may be little paint splats/smudges on original artworks, but I like to think this adds a little charm.

  • Once we have decided on the main reference image and the artwork has been started, this image cannot be changed.

Framing Service

Framing and/or mounting can be arranged. I use a local framing service to myself. We can discuss your preferences and I can arrange a separate quote for this. The framers will then take care of the packaging and posting of your framed artwork.

How to order your portrait and the process:

  • You can either send me a message through my Contact page, email me at hannahcamarra@gmail.com or contact me through my Instagram account @hanacam with a little bit of information about the animal you would like to have a portrait of. If it is a pet, it would be wonderful to know their name and what kind of animal they are. Preliminary pictures would be great for me to get to know them a little better. Also, an indication of what pieces of work you saw of mine that you like which has led you to contact me, so I can hopefully capture a similar feeling for you.

I will aim to get back to you within a couple of working days.

  • Reference imagery is best sent via email, and to be files of the original photos and not screenshot from a phone. A selection of images is preferred so I can see the animal from multiple angles and have a choice of which I think would work best for the portrait, which we can decide together. Moving images are welcome too, in addition. Images with clear focus on the eyes is really helpful as this is where I put much of my focus and fine detail. Also, a colour reference for the eyes will be needed within the selection of images.

For a favourite animal that is not a pet, I can help with finding reference imagery.

  • A 25% non-refundable deposit is required for all commissions and to be paid by bank transfer or Paypal.

  • I often jump straight into the final piece in order to maintain a free and loose style. When I feel I have begun to create something that I feel happy with, I will send photos taken in natural light and a small file scan for you to see. Sometimes this is at a point where I feel it could be finished, but this would be up to yourself to give a final approval. I am always more than happy to make adjustments where we feel they need them or try a new piece if its not quite right. The most important thing to me is that you are happy!

  • Once you are happy, the final monies will be required and then I will package and post your portrait out to you.

I will also probably be quite nosey following this to make sure your portrait has arrived safely.

  • I then hope for portrait to bring lots of smiles and joy to its new home!
